Lola E. Peters is a poet and essayist who writes about life culled from a 30-year career as an organizational development professional and many more years as an African American woman navigating an exclusive culture. Before semi-retirement, she worked in the non-profit sector as Director of Antiracism and Justice Programs for a national non-profit and in the private sector as a trainer, systems implementation manager, and all around translator between real people and tech speak. She has served on the National Council of Churches Racial Justice Working Group, as Co-chair of the Council of National Religious AIDS Networks, and Chair of Technology Access Foundation's board. She currently serves on the board of ONYX Fine Arts Collective, representing over 100 local visual artists of African descent, the board of Leadership Tomorrow, where she chairs the Screening & Selection committee, and on CityClub's Planning Committee. She is the author of two books of poetry and, most recently, a book of essays about the mythology of white supremacy titled The Truth About White People. She dedicates her life to actively standing against oppression and passionately believes that BlackLivesMatter.
